Set in the historic winemaking area of the South Livermore Valley, this house appears to be a weathered wood barn from the road, but transforms into a modern, metal-clad shed open to the expansive valley and surrounding vineyard views. The design was driven by two principle criteria specified by the owner: to be as energy efficient as possible by using responsible materials, and to be completely accessible to teenage kids as well as the wife who relies on a wheelchair.
