TAIWAN WEATHER EXPERIENCE 18

TAIPEI, TAIWAN

STUDIO JURY PRIZE

The 100,000 square foot facility studies, exhibits, and alerts the citizens of Taipei, Taiwan of potentially threatening weather conditions. Fixed along the Danshuei River, TWE transforms the existing 30 ft. mundane flood wall-into a traversable extension of the city. Boldly jutting out into the river, visitors are allowed to experience volatile climates as their awareness of global warming is heightened. From afar, the city is warned of flooding potential by an illuminated architectural skin. TWE’s unique experiential, analytical and protective capabilities were recognized by an architectural jury as the most distinguished studio project in Spring 2008.
